This funding is being jointly provided by the Department of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and P.E for all their children.

The sport funding can only be spent on sport and P.E. provision in schools.

Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of P.E and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they will do this.

Swimming 

Swimming Attainment 2022- 23

All of the children across the school are provided with the opportunity to receive swimming lessons taught by instructors at Bradfield College Sports Centre. 

As a result, this year:

• 75% of the children in Year 6 could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
• 75% of the children in Year 6 could use a range of strokes effectively – for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke
• 75% of the children in Year 6 could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

Swimming Attainment 2024-25

In the past academic year, we have been swimming at Bradfield College. 

Tundra and Torak Class had their 6 week block of lessons after October half term. This was followed by Tala Class in the Spring Term.

As a result, this year:

• 80% of pupils in year 6 can swim competently, confidently, and proficiently swim over a distance of 25 metres
• 80% of pupils in year 6 can use a range of strokes effectively (e.g. front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke)
• 80% of pupils in year 6 can perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

Swimming Lessons 2025-26

Tundra and Torak Class had their 6 week block of lessons after returning in September 2025.
